Abstract:

Despite the importance of nationally conducted research, the local Jewish community itself should be considered scholarly agenda. The paper reviews the state of local Jewish research along with suggestions for new directions and standards to be developed. The article argues for the importance of the local Jewish community as a research setting and object.
