Abstract:
Crashes involving motorcycles or mopeds in Indiana in 2007 produced 124 fatalities consisting of 112 motorcycle operators, nine motorcycle passengers, one driver of another (non-motorcycle) vehicle, and two passengers in other vehicles. This fact sheet examines motorcycle collisions within Indiana, including fatality and injury rates among riders, alcohol-related collisions, helmet use, licensing statistics, primary factors in motorcycle collisions, and the geography of motorcycle collisions in the state. Data specific to Indiana are drawn from the Indiana State Police Automated Reporting Information Exchange System (ARIES), as of March 16, 2008.
