Abstract:
The author discusses the ways in which Israel's Bar-Ilan University is seeking to become a leader in environmental research and education. These initiatives include an environmentally friendly campus, studies into local ecosystems, exploration of environmental issues as encountered in the Jewish religious tradition, studies into the causes of climate change, and research into nano-technology and biotechnology which may offer new environmental possibilities.
