Abstract:
The author discusses a pilot program undertaken in a northern New Jersey Jewish community to create a professional learning community focused on teaching Hebrew. The author explains that many different agencies from across the denominational spectrum participated in this initiative, which helped teachers to integrate best practices in Hebrew education, especially those based on scientific understanding of childhood development and learning models. The plan is entering its third year of a ten-year development plan.
