Abstract:
The author surveys the state of modern Hebrew language instruction outside of Israel in order to assess accomplishments and needs, and to identify areas of investment for JAFI's (the Jewish Agency for Israel's) educational resources. He is pessimistic about the overall current state of Hebrew language instruction and recommends creation of standards and measurement tools, curriculum planning, teaching materials, and technology.
