Abstract:
Hyler, a Hollywood executive, describes her experience in the film industry and her work with the Morningstar Commission, a project taking inspiration from GLAAD (Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation), which works "To create a healthier diversity of portrayals of Jewish women in the media, to advocate at the highest levels in the entertainment business for such portrayals and to mentor the next generation of women who could carry on this work." In the Q&A session following the talk, Hyler, Fishman, and Reinharz answer participants' questions on issues of Jews in the media, pluralism in American culture, and more.
