Abstract:
The author argues that in recent years there has been a growing acknowledgment of the presence of anti-Semitism in Australia. He states that it is directed against both Judaism and Zionism from the Australian far right and left and from organized extremist groups, Arab and Muslim groups, and the media. The author concludes that the contemporary challenge for Australia is to develop effective strategies for limiting the impact of anti-Semitism, protecting the Jewish community from violence, and ensuring that the positive historical experience of Jews in Australia continues well into the future.
