Abstract:
This issue of Contact focuses on Jewish religious education, asking whether the standard "Sunday school" and other supplementary Hebrew school models provide the kind of immersion in Jewish life necessary to pass along strong Jewish identity to the next generation. Articles included discuss the idea of Jewish retreat centers; the merits of Jewish camp and of wilderness experiences as part of Jewish life; and a defense of traditional "supplementary" Jewish education.
