Abstract:
The authors discuss Diarna ("our home" in Judeo-Arabic), a new project in which scholars, social entrepreneurs, Google Earth developers and Middle Eastern researchers are collaborating to gather photographs and other multimedia materials from physical locations of former Mizrahi Jewish life, and map it all on Google Earth. The project can help to document traces of Jewish life before they vanish, the authors explain, in addition to being a valuable pedagogical tool.
