Abstract:

Maya Brennan serves as a research associate for the Center for Housing Policy. Barbara J. Lipman is the research director for the Center for Housing Policy. This study examines change in a wide variety of housing expenses from 1996 to 2006, revealing that increases in mortgages and rents aren't the only reason why Americans may be feeling "Stretched Thin."
