Abstract:
As part of the Protecting the Next Generation Project, a national survey of adolescents aged 12 to 19 was conducted in Malawi. The survey was aimed at producing national-level data on adolescents' knowledge, attitudes and practices that are either protective or put adolescents at risk of HIV infection and unwanted pregnancy. This survey was conducted between March and August 2004 by the National Statistical Office in collaboration with ORC Macro, the Centre for Social Research and the Guttmacher Institute. A total of 4,031 males and females were interviewed from urban and rural areas.
