"Find yourself a teacher," the Talmud says; and the wisdom of that advice is plain to anyone who has tried to master a new field of knowledge or acquire a new set of skills. Yet, whether we hunger for Torah or secular leaming, most of us count ourselves fortunate to have found even one great teacher — one who will not only instruct us but who will also guide and inspire and ultimately change our lives.
