Abstract:
Using data from the NJPS 2000-01, this reports examines how patterns of philanthropy among American Jews vary by region, Jewish affiliation, income and age. Differences in charitable giving by age are the most policy-relevant, therefore, the analysis ultimately focuses on the philanthropic behavior of younger adults. Will today's younger Jewish adults continue to support Jewish sponsored causes with as much generosity as their parents and elders did?
