Abstract:
In The Jerusalem Quarterly 31 (Spring), 3-9. This essay is concerned with how values shape the formation of a myth; i.e., the description of the past. What I would challenge is the ostensible sequence of: event - description - value. I want to show how values shape description - how a story of the past from which we ostensibly derive meaning or value applicable to the present is shaped by the values of the present.
