Abstract:
The paper examines the extent to which American Jews have participated in some of the larger society's recent family changes. It asks how family life cycle status affects Jewish identification, and how different forms of Jewishness relate to the family life cycle. The article also assesses the extent to which recent changes in the family have been linked to diminished Jewish identification. Finally, we consider alternative communal policies in light of research findings.
