Abstract:
A discussion of the evolutionary changes of the Jewish family requires an understanding of the dramatic transformations of Jewish societal and communal life across history. An overview of that history is provided to demonstrate effects on the continuity of the Jewish community and the persistence of Jewish identity to which the family has been linked as the central institution.
