Abstract:
The author develops a historical context for the discussion of anti-Semitism and Jewish security in the U.S. in the 1990s. He addresses the question of why didn't anti-Semitism take firm root in this country? The author places anti-Semitism within the historical context of other forms of intolerance; by doing this he does not exaggerate the valence of power of this form of hatred, however dreadful its manifestations may be.
