Abstract:
The first part of this paper is a concise overview of the sociology and demography of the American Jewish community. The second part of the paper outlines a series of policy orientations and issues. It is the premise of this paper that the specification of policies for a community requires fundamental knowledge about its population, social and economic resources, political and institutional organization, its cultural life, attitudes and values.
