Abstract:

A national perspective is clearly essential in both research and planning. To achieve this goal requires a national population survey at the same time as we continue our efforts to assess and plan for local surveys. Together, the insights gained from the local and the national studies will help to assure the continued vitality of the community as a whole and of its component parts.
