Abstract:
Qualitative research was conducted in order to identify the key reasons why children from immigrant families are not attending Jewish Day Schools, and to explore opportunities to effect change to ensure that a Jewish education is available to any child of immigrants who wishes to receive one. Other specific objectives were to assess how well are coping in the system the children of immigrants who did enroll; and to determine how key administrators in the Jewish Day School system perceive and respond to the specific needs of the immigrant community.
