Abstract:
What is the core conception of Israel in a comprehensive theory of contemporary Jewish education? The text books used to teach about Israel reflect some underlying assumptions and attitudes. We shall briefly examine the concept of Israel as projected in four text books, and then suggest certain guidelines which may be regarded as basic for any theory and practice of the teaching of Israel in contemporary Jewish education.
