Abstract:
The author describes the Chicago Home for Jewish Friendless, a temporary home for children who, for reasons of death, illness, desertion, or improper care, cannot be left in the care of their parents. Many of them are children of new immigrants. The Home aims to care for these children in a way that encourages their creativity and respects their dignity.
