Abstract:
The author addresses the issue of recent immigration of Turkish, also called Spanish Jews, particularly in Cincinatti. Their differences from the existing Jewish community, including a different religious rite, a separate language (Ladino), and a lower number of skilled workers, create a challenge for providing social services even while they also create a more acute need. The author provides statistics as well as sociological information about the current Spanish Jewish community in Cincinatti.
