Abstract:
Jewish communal thinkers and leaders discuss what they believe are the urgent social needs of the New York Jewish community. They address a broad range of needs, touching on administrative issues, such as the development of a bureau that can research and report on the status of the community, on financial questions, such as a means to generate and disburse a stable income to charitable societies, philosophical issues, such as a change in philanthropic perspective away from classifying the poor as either worthy or unworthy, and more.
