Abstract:

Hillel Foundations in many American universities are the means by which organized Jewish communities maintain and support a Jewish way of life on college campuses. Although there are many Hillels across the country, little is known regarding their ability to match services to the current needs and interests of Jewish students. A task force in one major urban university was commissioned to systematically study these needs. As part of that effort, in the 1989 semester, a questionnaire was distributed, to which 219 students connected to the Hillel of Greater Philadelphia responded. Results of that survey, which shed light on the actual needs and perceptions of Jewish students, are reported here.
