Abstract:
A research project examining the Jewish Experiences for Families program in Detroit found that the primary motivation for participants was to enjoy family time in a Jewish setting. Many also wanted to strengthen their friendship and congregational ties as well. Only a few had the desire to gain Jewish knowledge or deepen their level of home practice of ritual. Therefore, a successful Jewish family education would be one that produced family time and Jewish time and synagogue time at the same time.
