Abstract:
Recent research has demonstrated the ineffectiveness of Jewish supplementary schools in transmitting Jewish knowledge and values, primarily because of the lack of family support for Jewish education. In response, there has been a great upsurge of interest and excitement in Jewish family education QBE). This article describes the history of such educational efforts, the types of JFE programs, and the needs and challenges facing them. The most important need is to establish criteria for determining the effectiveness of JFE programs.
