Abstract:
"Everything that was made during the six days of creation still needs work. Even man still needs fixing." (Gen. Rabbah 11). This article discusses different viewpoints on rabbinic supervision. It assumes that the rabbis indeed had views on this subject. Supervision concerns, among other things, power differentials between people, nurturance, honest human relationships, and personal change. We have much to learn from the rabbis' interesting and evocative reflections on these subjects.
