Abstract:

In Jewish Population Studies 27 (Papers in Jewish Demography, 1993), 39-53. Louis Rosenberg's Canada's Jews: A Social and Economic Study of the Jews in Canada, published in 1939, was a pioneering if unfortunately neglected classic of Canadian ethnic demography and sociology. His work was a product of his personal biography, the current sociopolitical context, and the customs and norms of his discipline. What follows is a brief and far from exhaustive treatment of the man, the times and the work.
