Abstract:
In 2004, CGR completed an analysis for Ontario County of its alternative to incarceration programs. The evaluation focused on the extent to which the alternative programs were being used, the interrelationships of the alternative programs to each other and with the overall Criminal & Juvenile Justice system, and the impact of the programs on the county’s jail population.
Recommendations resulted in enhanced programs and streamlined and integrated systems at less cost to county taxpayers, and helped forestall the potential need to expand the local jail in the next few years, with significant avoided costs to the county.
