Abstract:
The purpose of this overview is to examine some of the current trends in Jewish family formation and out marriage frequencies in a broad comparative context, with some attention to the specific situations of local communities. Unquestionably, the diffusion of out marriage across Jewish populations globally and the conflicting attitudes towards its nature and consequences constitute fundamental issues for Jewish policy making and one of the major challenges World Jewry faces at the beginning of the 21st century.
