Abstract:

The militarization of the European Union through the European Security and Defense Policy embodies the worst elements of European animosity toward the United States and would fundamentally undermine the NATO alliance and the Anglo-American Special Relationship. NATO must remain the cornerstone of the transatlantic security alliance in addressing the 21st century's most pressing security challenges.
