Abstract:
Scientific materialism challenges the traditional Western understanding of human nature and the universe and is central to arguments over moral relativism, personal responsibility, limited government, and scientific utopianism. Robust public scrutiny of claims made in the name of science does not constitute a "war against science." It may be the very thing that saves science from its own excesses.
