Abstract:
The American Jewish Committee convened a group of distinguished Jewish communal professionals, academics, and rabbis representing all major streams of Judaism. Members of this group (though not all of them) signed a statement on the Jewish future, calling for the promotion of five fundamental values: 1 - Torah; 2 - Am Yisrael (Jewish peoplehood); 3 - Klal Yisrael (the community of Israel); 4 - Brith (covenant); and 5 - Keruv (outreach. This publication presents the text of the statement, followed by thirteen responses by members of the group, seven of whom signed the statement and six of whom did not.
