This brief describes the changes in the child support program that result from passage of the 2006 federal budget bill (called the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005) as well as the effective date for those changes. It also describes possible additional changes contemplated by the Bush AdministrationÂ’s fiscal year 2007 budget proposal.
