Abstract:

On Wednesday, September 10, 2003, the Senate Finance Committee approved a welfare reauthorization bill. Called PRIDE (Personal Responsibility and Individual Development for Everyone), the bill reauthorizes the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program as well as a number of other programs (e.g., the abstinence-unless-married education program). This paper compares current law with provisions in the Senate Finance Committee bill related to teen parents and youth.
