Abstract:
This brief, the second in a new series from CLASP on Couples and Marriage Policy, describes the surprisingly wide range of activities underway in states to promote marriage and two-parent families. No matter the outcome of the federal policy initiatives in this area, states and communities are likely to continue their efforts. As little is known yet about the effects of these new programs and policies, the authors suggest caution, creativity, and evaluation as policymakers move forward.
