Abstract:
This testimony, presented to the Senate Subcommittee on Employment, Safety, and Training of the Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions on May 16, 2002, focuses on the intersection of programs funded through the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) and the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) block grant. Savner offers preliminary findings from an on-going CLASP study exploring the experiences of four states that have consolidated administration of WIA and TANF at the state and local levels. He also provides suggestions for WIA and TANF reauthorization.
