Abstract:
The author explores the political values of the American Jewish community and the effect of recent trends and events on those views. The author asserts that increasing economic success and decreasing discrimination against Jews in education and employment might lead some Jews to move to the right politically, but points to other trends and factors (including the Watergate scandal) that may push American Jews back to the left. Ultimately, the author argues, Jews are likely to return to valuing the same ultimate priorities that they did in the 1950s and 60s.
