Abstract:
The author traces the takeover of elements of the Jewish community's social services in Montreal, Quebec by the government as part of a large government expansion program. He explores the response by the Jewish community in its various agencies and communal professional sector to this government expansion, and discusses the issues raised by government incursions into the Jewish communal sector.
