Abstract:
The author suggests that the pioneering ideology that accompanied members of the Second Aliya assumed a pervasiveness that permeated all spheres of life and influenced the new Yishuv in later decades. This article examines the formation of social welfare programs as reflected in the ideology of the Second Aliya. The author argues that this ideology in fact, actually curtailed the efforts of social welfare services in Israel.
