Abstract:
It was clear from my study that Jews were entering corporate and other institutional life and were becoming involved in the United Way as a result of the way the latter recruited its leadership—through the corporate structure. However, these Jews were interested in Jewish causes, donated funds to Jewish charities, and belonged to synagogues in surprisingly high percentages. Moreover, they volunteered many hours to voluntary organizations, albeit nonsectarian ones.
