Abstract:

This article looks at recent census results in the United States. The author states that Jewish communal organizations have a need for knowledge about the size of the Jewish population and of some of the basic demographic characteristics in the cities which they serve. The census provides statistics that permit the researcher to define the parameters of Jewish population distribution in metropolitan communities in the United States, despite the absence of a question on religious identification.
