Abstract:
CLASP has collected new data on the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) caseloads through December 2002 for all 50 states and the District of Columbia. These are the most current and complete data available. Between September and December 2002, most states (38) reported caseload increases. The national caseload rose by 1.2 percentthe second consecutive quarter showing a national increase. Between December 2001 and December 2002, the national caseload total declined by 2.4 percent.
