Abstract:
The author explores the American Jewish experience through the lens of four generations roughly corresponding to those who left their mark in the 1870s, the 1910s, the 1950s and the 1990s. The author outlines major themes of these generations, respectively, as (1) founding; (2) protecting peoplehood; (3) suburbs and survival; and (4) seeking spirituality.
