Abstract:
The authors provide data on the characteristics of teachers in Jewish schools in North America. Data includes: background and training of teachers, conditions of work, and career patterns. The study finds that teachers have a strong commitment to their work; however, they have limited training and minimal opportunities for professional development. The authors suggest that the quality and quantity of professional development for teachers should be improved and the conditions of employment should be enhanced.
