Abstract:
The author discusses the political establishment of the European Commonwealth and argues that European countries lack a shared sense of history and culture. He notes significant differences between the founding of the United States and that of the European Commonwealth and lists the challenges Europe faces. He speculates about what the future of Europe might hold and explores the current and future European-Jewish experiences and Europe's potential relationship with Israel. He recommends the establishment of a nonpolitical institution to provide research, professional development, youth programs, and various projects for Jewish communities throughout Europe.
