Abstract:
The lack of a basic timeline has increased the difficulty of learning about women's lives in this historical period and context and hindered the development of a new and more accurate understanding of the history of this period. For example, although the history of the Yishuv and Israel is almost always presented as a history of conflicts among groups, the conflict between women and men, and the struggle for suffrage or women's rights, is never included. This chart, an overview of Jewish women's experience in Palestine - 1880-1948 (i.e. the Yishuv or Eretz Yisrael) and Israel (1948-1998) is intended as one step in the direction of addressing these problems.
