Abstract:
My aim in this paper is threefold. First, I will try to lay out systematically the story we tell of ourselves. Second, I will trace chronologically several of its principal articulations. Third, I will discuss several of its most recent retellings. My hope is to suggest a feature of our discourse about ourselves which remains elusive.
