Abstract:
The authors explore the community relations implications of Jewish organizations using public funding. They identify three broad categories of government funding for sectarian organizations: purchase of services, support of special demonstration projects, and contributions to capital construction, especially hospitals. It must eventually be asked, the authors contend, whether the rationale for maintaining a voluntary service loses its force if it operates as a conduit for governmental service and financing.
